Here, you will get to know the faces of Nasser Gymnastics.

My Name is Amber Jarreau. I am 9 years old. I am in Level two and I am on the competition team. I have been training at Nasser since I was a preschooler. I have always loved gymnastics. My mom says I have been running, jumping, tumbling, and walking on the back of the sofa like it was a balance beam every since I was in diapers. I started to get serious in Level 1 and started doing competitions. I am so glad I did it. I learned a lot about being a gymnast, I got closer to my team mates, and to always have fun as long as you are doing your best. My favorite event is beam! When I am not training at Nasser, I enjoy attending school, going to church, making different kinds of slime and spending time with my family. I love Nasser and I Love Gymnastics! #NavyNation #HappyHandsprings

Part of what makes a great gymnast is her every day attitude and how she approaches a challenge. Hard work, perseverance, and dedication is what determines a gymnast from an Olympian. They may be young but they are off to a great start here at Nasser’s. The newest members of our Little Stars Team, Alisa Moore and Katherine Stockman, know all about these attributes.

Hard work-constantly trying to make corrections when Coach Taylar shows them how to improve.
Perseverance- working on a skill over and over until they get it just right (like that Level 1 Beam mount).
Dedication- showing up for practice as often as possible and giving 100% every time.

We are extremely proud of Alisa and Katherine! Keep up the hard work girls! We can’t wait to see what great things you accomplish.
GO NASSER’S!

With chalk on her hands and sweat in her hair, she could almost taste the gold medal that was within her reach. “One last routine,” she whispered to herself while saluting the judge. As the butterflies went wild in her stomach, she mounted the beam. “Squeeze. Lift, hold, 1 I-love-gymnastics. Tight and sharp. Almost done. Big kick over. Done.” A sigh of relief left her lips. Her coach had the biggest smile and ran up to her with open arms. “I stuck it! I did it!” she thought to herself as her teammates congratulated her. Her score of 9.35 flashed on the screen and she could hear her mom yelling in the stands.

The thought crossed her mind, “I hope I won gold. It’s all I’ve been focused on. I’ve been working so hard in the gym and making my corrections. Oh, I hope I did good enough. My coach would be so proud of me.” It was time to announce the awards for All Around. Her name was called for the gold and tears filled her parents eyes.

“Level 1 All Around State Champ from Nasser’s Anna McLain”
“Level 2 All Around State Champ from Nasser’s Avari Fletcher”
“Level 2 All Around State Champ from Nasser’s GraciFelps”

This has been the story for many young ladies across Alabama but for these three girls at Nasser Gymnastics, it became a reality. We are extremely proud to have three All Around State Champions-Anna McLain, Avari Fletcher, and GraciFelps.

These girls, along with their teammates, have worked through all of the disappointment and triumphs that come with competitive gymnastics. It is not an easy road but it always worth it.

Congratulations Anna, Avari, and Graci!

GO NASSER’S!
