RECREATIONAL CLASSES

Required 1-month Beginner Class for new students

Over the years, we have learned what makes for the best experience for our gymnasts. It can be unsafe for an inexperienced student to jump in with more experienced students. To that end, we require all new students (new to gymnastics, new to Nasser Gymnastics, or new in the past year) ages 3-8 to complete a beginner class for their first month.

We place that class at the beginning of each month and there is often a waitlist, so register early to get started. Once new students have completed the beginner curriculum, they will move into an open regular class. Any new students enrolled in regular classes will be transferred to a beginner class. This curriculum cannot be skipped. If a beginner student misses more than one beginner class, s/he will need to complete a private lesson to cover the missed curriculum prior to being enrolled in a regular class.

Though we HIGHLY recommend the beginner class, if it doesn’t work for you, the other option to complete the beginner curriculum is to sign up for 2 Private Lessons (PLs) instead. Registration is still required.

3 year old and 4 & 5 year old classes (boys & girls)

The 3, 4, & 5 year old class is for gymnasts that have mastered the basics and will learn to tumble their way to the gold! Children will receive an introduction to basic gymnastics, motor skills, and creative movement in a fun, playful environment that blends physical, cognitive, and daily living skills. These classes help develop social interaction skills with other children and teaches the tots how to follow directions, as they are introduced to fundamental body positions and various gymnastics equipment. Proper progression activities are used to help each student develop and practice gymnastics skills in a safe, effective manner.

6, 7, & 8 year old and 9+ classes (girls)

These classes focus on learning and perfecting fundamentals, preparing the gymnasts to begin learning more complex gymnastics skills. As the children grow, they become more aware of their bodies, learning strength and control. This introductory class exposes students to the foundation of gymnastics skills, body form and positions, strength, and flexibility. Students progress at their own pace on all four Olympic apparatus (Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor). Proper progression activities are used to help each student develop and practice gymnastics skills in a safe, effective manner.

Boys: (boys 6 years and older)

The boy’s program is a constructive way to burn off energy while gaining strength, discipline, and agility. This is designed as an introduction to men’s gymnastics. This all boys class allows our boys to break away from the girls and explore the specifics of men’s gymnastics and all 6 men’s events: high bar, parallel bars, rings, vault, floor, and pommel horse. The beginning of each class is spent stretching and warming up, with an emphasis on strength training and flexibility. The boys then rotate through a series of events, learning introductory skills on all events.

Gymnastics is a great sport for boys that can increase their performance in many other sports as well. By participating in gymnastics, your son will become stronger, more flexible, more agile, and have a better sense of where his body is in the air, all resulting in an overall improvement in his fitness and athleticism.

PRIVATE LESSONS

These 1-on-1 lessons are customized to the student’s current skill level and goals, and are especially great for the following:

  • Students with special needs

  • Students wanting to advance

  • Students wanting to focus on a particular skill(s) or apparatus

  • Tumbling

See the Private Lesson page for more info.

PRE-TEAM: Little Stars (girls)

Little Stars are for intermediate gymnasts with big dreams! This is our Pre-Team program that is designed to increase training intensity placed on students in a progressive manner. New skills are introduced and skills previously learned are polished and perfected, focusing on good form and presentation. Little Stars is also designed to prepare our gymnasts for competitive gymnastics in the future. Every gymnast must be evaluated before being placed in our Pre-Team Program. We have a beginner, intermediate, and advanced Little Stars classes. Each Little Star is required to practice 2 hours per week.

TEAM

Hard work, dedication, and perseverance. That’s what it takes to be a part of our Competitive Team Program. Nasser Gym is a USA Gymnastics Member and participates in the Junior Olympic Development Program for Levels 1-10. These girls work extremely hard in the gym to perfect their routines and nail those big skills. Our Team members train anywhere from 4 hours per week to 15 hours per week. Members participate in competitions across the State and Region with hopes to qualify for Regionals and Nationals. We consider it a great honor to be a part of our Team and work to progress each child that walks through our doors, no matter how young, to a Level 10 gymnast. Each Team member must be invited to join through an evaluation.
